Originally it will have been part of a cabinet in a museum or in the study of a private collector. A slim wooden drawer with multiple compartments of different sizes to cater for nature's great variety of entymological specimens or geological samples amongst many other things worthy of cataloguing and preserving. In its present day environment the square box structure approximately 13" x 13" had been turned upside down and secured to the wall of someones's dining room. With a just off vertical fixing the individual items positioned within its frame are quite stable and secure from falling or just rolling out and indeed the accumulation of household dust around the many, many objects indicates that the display has not been disturbed for many years. I have no knowledge of the former occupant of the house as the place was vacant but evidently from the following inventory that person, the collector had a full and interesting life.
