Britpop. Was I too old for it?

I think that I was too old for Brit Pop when it burst onto the scene in the early to mid 1990's but it did not stop me appreciating the finest of the tunes from that vibrant time even when I was bogged down in keeping a new business going in its formative years. I was more of a Mod and New Wave baby boomer from the previous decade and therefore a bit bemused by the intense rivalries of Blur and Oasis when they were in fact part of the same movement and ethos. From the list below for which I am indebted to BBC Six Music I have eventually got to see the Live offerings of Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller and Shed Seven and I suppose by definition a bit of Suede through Bernard Butler on his solo tour. It was a momentous time in music and emphasised the creativity and influence of British Bands at that time. Now 20 years on many of the key personalities are doing something else with the proceeds of album and tour sales like making cheese, doing art or freelancing in the media. My favourite, thanks for asking, well it just has to be The Riverboat Song for its unique sound and supreme musicianship. Crikey, that makes me sound far too old for Britpop.
