I have been reunited after about 30 years with a long lost recipe. Here are the ingredients.
Sodium PCA- A humectant or skin conditioning agent and a
derivative of naturally occurring amino acid proline. Hygroscopic as in being
able to absorb moisture from the air.
PPG-3 Myristyl ether. A fatty alcohol, buffering and
neutralising agent used for skin conditioning and works as a solvent in cosmetics
Hexyl Cinnimal. An aroma substance found naturally in the
essential oils of camomile. An important fragrance ingredient.
Hydroxycitonellal- Colourless, viscous and oily being a
range of synthetics used to recreate the smell of the lily of the valley,
Occurs naturally in citrus fruits.
Alpha-Isomethyl Ionine- a fragrance often found in fabric
conditioners, detergents and hair care products.
Menthol- natural substance from corn mint, peppermint and
mint oils. Flavouring and local anaesthetic properties.
Coumarin-a chemical compound/poison found in many plants including
cinnamon with a scent recognisable as the smell of new mown hay.
Linalool- a natural colourless liquid found in many plants
including flowers and spices. Its pleasant scent is used in many commercial
applications.
Eugenol- a major constituent of clove oil. There has been a
new found interest in its use against insects and bugs.
Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol. Used as a light stabiliser
in products and with no scent or flavour values.
Evernia Prunastri- a natural species of lichen also known as
oakmoss. A heavy oriental fragrance and also as a fixative base.
Citronellol- extracted from geraniums, roses and other plants
which can cause a reaction on skin.
Polyquaternium-10- anti static and moisturising qualities
being a water soluble granular powder. An ammonium compound.
Limonene- from the peel of citrus fruits and a regular
medical ingredient for weight loss, cancer prevention and treatment and
bronchitis.
Geraniol- a terpene alcohol found in geranium and lemon and
widely used in perfumes and cosmetics.
BHT- a derivative of phenol used for its antioxidant
characteristics. Added to food as a preservative.
Benzyl Benzoate- medication and insect repellent
particularly useful against lice and scabies. As well as its insecticide use it
is a fragrance ingredient and solvent.
Farnesol- naturally found hydrophobic, ie insoluble in
water. A natural deodorant and preservative.
Citral- plant essential oil with strong lemon smell.
Cinnamal- as the name suggests it gives cinnamon its spice.
An aromatic aldehyde
Benzyl Alcohol- an
aromatic alcohol with mild odour.
Just add more alcohol and water and you have Kouros.
