I will do things at my convenience

I have a room that I call my own, it's
in the north west corner of my semi detached home.
Six feet deep, across three feet wall to wall
Made only for sitting, nothing spectacular at all

When I feel the urge to go, I look
up and down the house for a suitable book
or similar tract, to pass the duration
on cycling, construction or famous quotations

The space is actually my seat of learning
facts and figures give me a terrible yearning
for knowledge of the arts and history and science
with me sat next to the central heating appliance

Behind the door of that studious place
The world goes by at a much slower pace
It's nice to resist that feeling of rushing
and as I leave the only sound is the lavatory flushing
